Along the Sparkling Paths of Coal, part 2 - Jump over the Skin is a continuation of the author's work as part of the artistic digitization of Trbovlje's intangible cultural heritage. The more than two-hundred-year-old miner’s tradition of “jumping over the skin” will be brought closer to the audience through a digital video and digital graphics, and through participatory action. The digital video installation takes the audience on a walk through the cultural heritage of Zasavje, Zasavje’s common and artistic life, shows us the paths and stories that characterised this place, and illuminates a bright digital future.

2024

Along the Sparkling Paths of Coal, digital 3D render video

The project under the working title Artistic Digitization connects new media artistic practices, digitization, and (intangible) cultural heritage. The goal is to preserve cultural, especially intangible, heritage with the help of already existing (or new) museum digital archives, interviews or 3D scanning, and to present it in a new way with the help of new technologies. The Artistic Digitization project deals with the preservation of Slovenian cultural heritage in the age of digital media and offers the digitization of (intangible) cultural heritage as a solution.

This iteration of the project Along the Sparkling Paths of Coal, part 2 - Jump over the Skin is the second work dedicated to the tradition of Trbovlje’s mining culture. Miners, mining culture and everything it brought to the citizens of Trbovlje and the inhabitants of the Zasavje region will shine in a new light in the project.

The project has been helmed by curator Bogdan Šteh, under the tutelage of the Institute for Culture Delavski dom Trbovlje, and presented at the group exhibition Speculum Artium Festival in Trbovlje, Slovenia (2024).
